| Those little Lovebirds!!! Once you've known a friendly little Lovebird, it's easy to see why they've held such popularity over the years. They come in a wide variety of brilliant colors, there is sure to be one that appeals to everyone. Lovebirds are a small parrot with lots of personality; they're playful and feisty.... they’re a great choice as a first bird for beginners or a perfect addition to the most advanced Aviculturist. Popular – with good reason. Lovebirds have a charming chatter that brings a happy pleasant voice into your home. They can at times be a bit noisy but nothing like the loud screams of some of the other parrot species. Lovebirds are social and love your company or the company of another Lovebird. If you work all day and really don’t have a lot of time to spend with a bird you might consider a pair of Lovebirds – they will keep each other company and still provide you with playful chatter and companionship. Be aware that they may bond with each other and not want to be handled by you. This can be avoided by acquiring your first Lovebird and spend time bonding with him/her before adding the new addition. Bond with each bird separately before introducing them to each other and be sure to offer them playtime with you each day. |

| When buying your bird/s look for bright eyes, sleek feathers, clear nostrils and healthy droppings. Also, beware of Lovebirds priced too cheaply – what may look like a deal may easily turn into a costly Vet bill and/or a miserable nippy pet. Choose a hand-tame bird that has been raised with love and attention in a home environment. Birds raised in basements and/or out buildings often lack the care and attention needed to make them well-adjusted and loveable pets. Invest in a healthy tame pet and you will enjoy many happy years with your feathered companion. |

| Lovebirds are easy to care for and easy to keep. They appreciate as large a cage as you can comfortably afford and easily keep clean but can do well in a moderate cage of 20" x 20" x 20" as long as they have plenty of playtime outside the cage. A play-gym is an excellent place for them to have fun and exercise as well as for you to enjoy watching the hilarious antics of your pet Lovebird/s. Newspaper is still the best product to line the bottom of your bird's cage with and makes it easy for you to see any changes in droppings that might indicate a health problem allowing you to seek Veterinarian advice in time to keep your pet happy and healthy. Lovebirds enjoy a wide variety of foods. They love Sprouted seeds which are an excellent nutritious choice as well as being an organic and economical food. Most birds absolutely love them and thrive on the healthy snack! Lovebirds also like a wide variety of fruits and veggies, seeds, nuts, cooked brown rice, Birdie Breads and more. Offer a cuttlebone and mineral block at all times. With a wide variety of healthy foods you shouldn’t need a vitamin supplement but you may sprinkle small amounts of a powered vitamin made especially for birds on their fresh foods. Please avoid adding vitamins to the water - they sour quickly and pose a potential danger to your pet. If, you feed pellets to your bird, please do not offer any vitamin supplements.
